We’re happy to announce the debut of our annual collaboration with WVU-Industrial Extension featuring the winning artwork of a West Virginia elementary student as a new suncatcher!

The WVU Industrial Extension partners with small and medium size manufacturers in West Virginia to support operational improvement and business growth. In an effort to inspire WV students to learn more about careers in manufacturing, the WVU Industrial Extension and Blenko Glass created a Student Design Challenge. Students had the opportunity to create a design and one lucky student had their design selected and will be made into a custom-made Blenko Glass piece of art! When we saw Julia’s beautiful picture of two sassy chickens, we couldn’t help but fall in love again with our fine feathered friends.

Bock-bock-bock-aahhhh! Our new eye-catching suncatcher in Tangerine and Cobalt was designed by our student contest winner with WVU’s Industrial Extension, Julia M., from Calvary Baptist Academy in Teays Valley, WV, and realized in glass by our talented Customs Artist, Jenni Gonze. Manufacturing Day provided Julia with the opportunity to see her design go from a simple sketch to a computer-aided design, turned into a mold, and she and her father were even able to stamp her design into molten glass. We are thrilled to share Julia's finished product and we hope she inspires other students across WV to explore the many opportunities available in manufacturing.
