We can’t believe it’s taken us this long to celebrate our fine feathered friends – so many of our employees have chickens themselves! For chicken parents and chicken fans alike, this eye-catching suncatcher in Tangerine and Cobalt was designed by our student contest winner with WVU’s Industrial Extension, Julia M., from Calvary Baptist Academy in Teays Valley, WV, and realized in glass by our talented Customs Artist, Jenni Gonze.

We recommend using fishing line or another clear filament thread to hang your window decoration to best suit your desired look.

Jenni Gonze

All of the suncatchers we make pass through Jenni’s skilled and capable hands. Whether a suncatcher available to all – or a custom suncatcher for your particular purposes – Jenni moves seamlessly from art to carve, translating designs into carefully-carved graphite stamps, each of which leaves behind its impression on extra-hot glass out of our furnaces.

Gonze is a trained glass artist: she studied under the illustrious Kelsey Murphy (designer of our WV Day 2022 piece, ‘Cabin in the Woods’), learning cameo carving and cold finishing techniques for giving finished wares an extra layer – or ten! – of artistry. She has worked with Blenko for nearly a decade, during which she has continuously innovated and evolved our suncatcher offerings from a few line ‘catchers to the wide variety you see now.

Lovely Gift

This is a gift and I am excited to see their reaction when opened. Before wrapping, I held it up to a bright window. Absolutely gorgeous. My only disappointment is that my Blenko items, which are primarily gifts, don’t come in a box with Blenko literature to identify what a special gift it is. I really did expect boxes due to the premium prices.

Do you have a on line catlog I can vew?

Poor design and underwhelming

I am completely underwhelmed by this piece. It looks more like a poor representation of Hades as opposed to Mars. I may return it. The black marks look like someone streaked it with a Sharpie marker. Shown on the background it is misleading. This year has been a bit of disappointment regarding Ltd edition pieces. I hope next year will be better executed. Design is important.

Love Blenko

My home has lots of this beautiful glass, water bottles, glasses in two sizes. I lived in Huntington and then Ashland and trips to Blenko were part of my life for 30 years. Blenko
is an American treasure.

I purchased this because I thought I would hang it on my Christmas tree. But the pine trees, moon and owl design are appropriate for any season. I wasn't sure if I would be able to see the design well because the glass is clear, but the light hits the glass at different depths and the owl seems to glow. I will be leaving this piece up year round.

I did not realize from the picture that the rim is yellow and the center is orange. I love this detail. The glass has a very smooth finish and the design is very detailed. It glows in the light... I am so happy with this purchase.

We lived in South Charleston, WV as my kids grew up and they are still true to the state - each year I get them a piece of Blenko Glass as we often visited and watch them blow glass.
