Meet Jim "Jimbo" Adkins, one of the energetic forces behind the furnace here at Blenko Glass! Jimbo joined us in July 2023 as an apprentice, and in just over a year, he’s become an integral part of our team—currently serving as a gatherer in the hot shop. As a gatherer, Jimbo collects the initial molten glass from the furnace on the end of a blowpipe—an essential first step in the glassblowing process. His steady hands, keen eye, and unwavering focus help set the stage for every handcrafted piece of Blenko glass. Before joining Blenko, Jimbo built a career as a chef, developing a deep understanding of heat, timing, and creativity under pressure. The transition from kitchen to hot shop might seem unexpected, but Jimbo saw a connection. His culinary background gave him a unique perspective, and an edge. It’s no surprise that his artistic instincts, quick thinking, and commitment to quality have translated so seamlessly into the world of glassmaking. He even played a key role in the final design of our Helios Saturn water bottle, a perfect example of his creativity in action. From day one, Jimbo has stood out not just for his skills, but for his infectious energy and enthusiasm. He brings a spark to every shift—always eager to learn, lend a hand, and connect with visitors. Around the shop, Jimbo is known for his strong work ethic, collaborative spirit, and the way he brings people together. His warmth, curiosity, and passion make him both a team favorite and a natural ambassador for Blenko. We’re proud to have Jimbo on the team—and we can't wait to see where his journey in glass takes him next.
