Employee Spotlight: Tim Chapman – Maintenance
If something’s broken, missing, out of place, or just needs the right set of eyes watching, chances are Tim Chapman’s already on it. Odds are, he’s probably already fixing it.
Tim became a valued Blenkonian back in July of 2008, and since then, he’s done a little bit of everything, and we do mean EVERYTHING. Tim has made appearances all over the place. He spent a couple of years as our overnight watchman, keeping the factory safe, the furnaces filled, and the ghosts in check well into the night shift. He’s stepped into the hot shop to hold a mold or carry in, and even helped out in shipping to pack a few boxes when duty called.
These days, Tim holds it down in maintenance, where “job description” is more of a suggestion than a rule. Fixing, painting, hauling glass, hammering away, shoveling off, you name it, Tim’s probably done it this week. If there were a gold medal for “keeping things running without making a fuss,” Tim would have been an Olympian some years ago.
Through it all, he’s cool, calm, collected, and about as easygoing as they come. Soft-spoken, friendly, and always willing to lend a hand, especially if that hand earns a little overtime, Tim is the definition of steady. The kind of guy who just shows up, gets it done, and somehow makes it look easy. Heck, when he’s not at work, Tim’s keeping just as busy on his farm, because apparently a full day of maintenance isn’t quite enough to keep him occupied. Turns out, “getting your hands dirty” isn’t just part of the job, it’s a lifestyle.
Tim is one of our loyal, dedicated veterans, the kind of person every team hopes for and relies on more than they probably say out loud. We’re lucky to have him, and it’s safe to say this place wouldn’t run quite the same without him. And honestly, we’d probably have a lot more things broken, which says something considering this factory is over 100 years old!
