Employee Spotlight: Matt Spurlock – Bookkeeper

Behind every smooth operation is someone making sure the numbers behave, and for us, that someone is thankfully Matt Spurlock. Matt joined the team in December of last year with dollar signs in his eyes and an adding machine in his hand, ready to keep us all in line whether we liked it or not.
He fits right in as a newer Blenkonian, bringing a type of dry humor that would make Michael Scott proud beyond words, though you might miss it if you are not paying close attention. Matt is sharp, detail-oriented , and has the kind of focus that can make any spreadsheet’s timbers shiver and gasts flabber. If Matt is around, no number is out of place, and every receipt has been accounted for before anyone needed to ask.
Now, we would be remiss if we did not mention one of his more, shall we say, unique talents. Matt has what can only be described as superhuman hearing. Whether it is a quiet conversation across the office, the faintest rustle of a receipt printing in the Visitor's Center, or someone whispering “where did I put that receipt?” there is a good chance Matt already knows about it. Nothing slips past him, especially not a single digit.
Matt is full of questions in the best way possible, always digging a little deeper to make sure things are right, and not just close enough. From balancing the books to making sure the gas bill gets handled on time to sneaking in some gut busters in a casual chat, he keeps things (and the numbers) running smoothly behind the scenes. Safe to say, we are glad he counted us in and came to be part of our family.
