Employee Spotlight: David Wertz - VP of Manufacturing

At Blenko Glass Company, our legacy is shaped not only by the timeless art of glassmaking but also by the people who bring that legacy to life. On this holiday of gratitude, we’re proud to shine our Employee Spotlight on David Wertz, our exceedingly wise Vice President of Manufacturing.

Dave first joined the Blenko team as a third-party consultant alongside Bryson Cutler (who later took on the role of VP of Business Development) in 2017. He brought with him a wealth of operational expertise and a deep appreciation for craftsmanship as the son of a ceramicist. In 2020, both Dave and Bryson became full-time members of the Blenko family as Operations Directors. When our legendary VP of Sales and General Manager, Dean Six retired, Dave stepped into a larger leadership role, taking on the title of VP of Manufacturing during a pivotal chapter in Blenko’s story in 2023.

But Dave’s impact extends far beyond the factory floor. A self-described tech enthusiast, he’s been instrumental in bringing Blenko into the digital age, developing and implementing custom in-house applications that streamline everything from production workflows to furnace temperature checks to batch charges to inventory management. His ability to blend tradition with technology has helped preserve the soul of Blenko while building a stronger, more connected future.

Whether he’s supporting our artisans, optimizing systems, or fine-tuning our digital tools, Dave is always looking ahead while staying grounded in the legacy that makes Blenko unique.
