Employee Spotlight: Justin Courtney - Furnace Technician

What was that lurking in the night? A bird? A plane? Mothman??

While most of the world sleeps, our Furnace Techs are wide awake, keeping Blenko safe, steady, and shining. Today, we are shining our Employee Spotlight on Justin Courtney, who joined the team in April 2025 and serves as a dedicated Furnace Technician, working the late-night hours when the campus is quiet, and the furnaces depend on a steady, reliable hand.

As part of his role, Justin is responsible for batching the furnaces by adding raw materials on the correct schedule, checking hourly temperatures, completing hourly routine walk-throughs for safety and inspection, and assisting with furnace maintenance. It’s meticulous, essential work that keeps our glassmaking operations moving around the clock.

Furnace Techs are the unsung heroes of Blenko because the schedule is 24/7, 365 days a year. Their faces are less frequently seen, yet their impact is felt in every piece we create. When most of us are clocking out, Justin is clocking in to be one of the dedicated individuals who sacrifice time with loved ones, including on holidays, to make sure our operations never miss a beat.

Outside of work, Justin is a proud father, an enthusiastic collector of all things Mothman, and a devoted professional wrestling fan. His passions bring the same spirit, curiosity, and heart that he brings to his work here at Blenko.
