Employee Spotlight John Shepherd 

Did you see his shirt? Did it say he’s delulu? Or was that a raccoon?

Meet John Shepherd, who became part of the Blenko Glass family in August 2021. If you’ve spent any time around campus, you probably already heard John is our resident jokester. From crafting memes to prepping for his stand-up routine (yes, literally), he has a gift for bringing smiles and laughter wherever he goes. And if the memes or quick-witted one-liners don’t get you, one of his ever-rotating funny t-shirts probably will.

But behind the humor is someone equally known for his kindness and thoughtfulness. John has a very special way of considering others’ feelings and is easily one of the most empathetic people around these parts. Anyone could call up ol’ Shep and he’d fill in to help, on or off the shop floor, without hesitation and no questions asked. We know it’s cliché to say, but he really is the teddy bear here at the factory.

Outside of Blenko, John dedicates his time and energy as a volunteer firefighter, a commitment he’s carried for an incredible 15 years, proudly following in the footsteps of his father. In fact, Shep uses his father’s old helmet and you might just find a little photo of his pop under the strap on the back. He’s also a raccoon enthusiast. So much so that if Blenko ever has a raccoon mascot, we’re pretty sure John will volunteer to be its sole handler.

His service to the community, paired with his generosity, humor, and unique flair, makes him someone we are proud to celebrate not just as a team member, but as a person. Thank you, John, for the laughter, compassion, courage, and the occasional raccoon sticker you bring to the party!
