Employee Spotlight - Alex Burdette

HI ALEX!

Alex Burdette joined us in February 2020 as Visitor Center manager. After returning from Covid furlough, he briefly ran the antiques department, he worked in shipping and had a couple other roles before finally finding his footing in the Hot Shop. Alex was one of the first to join our Apprenticeship - and has been the first and only person to complete it thus far.

Always trying to find something new and exciting to do with glass, Alex has blown glass into holes in the ground as well as carved pumpkins. He has designed pieces for the Charleston Sternwheel Regatta, October West, and FestivALL and is the first federally certified furnace glass blower in the United States.

We’re sad to say that Alex’s last day with us will be July 18. As we bid him adieu, we wish him luck in his new position as the Resident Assistant at the Chrysler Museum of Art.

BYE ALEX!
