We’re working our little Phoenix mobile glassblowing unit these days. Every day, we have our new apprentice class working out of it, so we can save most of our higher-quality glass for production. No matter! This little baby furnace takes 60 pounds of cullet at a time, and the glass melts down to become workable relatively quickly. This means we’re recycling our color sorted cullet into our Phoenix for training!
I promise we’re getting to the point.
This means we’re tossing in batches of cullet pretty frequently out of need. We can’t always stop to clean the old color out of it, either. So we’ve been getting some of the wildest, least predictable colorways out of our cullet glass. When we notice it’s getting particularly interesting, we’ll pull a couple of water bottles out of it. These don’t always survive, either, because of incompatibilities or other one-off issues.
This orange wonder is one that survived – and it is rich and wonderful. We know you’ve been looking for an orange water bottle, too – we think this is the one.
